A lightweight, easy-to-manipulate disposable valve for media transport applications includes a security feature and functions with tubing of clear and braided silicone of 50, 60, and 65 Shore A hardness. The BioValve�s precision restriction flow controller is profiled to minimize flow-path turbulence, and the controller�s thread pitch is calibrated to 2 mm per turn to provide an accurate estimate of flow restriction up to a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi. Autoclaving and sterilization by gamma irradiation have no negative effects on the valve�s robustness or durability, as demonstrated through independent testing.
